Syversen is direct: "Maybe you're divorced; maybe you've always been single.Chances are if you're married, you'll be widowed. It's a sad fact and your set bet is to be prepared, especially when it comes to savings, home maintenance, and financial planning."
In 17 chapter with titles such as "Finance with Chocolate Sauce," "I Hope You Like Dog Food," "Protect Your Head from the Death Rays" and "When to Use a Financial Planner," her self-help guide often takes the scenic route. Syversen's aim is to get people "to think about our biggest assets and how to take care of those assets event if it is not a favorite pastime."
Home improvement is big on her list, so are savings and retirement. "It's time to get our houses in order, both figuratively and literally. Garden and fresh paint are a beautiful thing, so are IRAs and 401Ks."
